AS/SVE Systems
Air Sparge and Soil Vapor Extraction systems combined for efficient removal of vapor phase contaminants from soil and groundwater. Custom designed and factory tested for your site requirements.
Combined In-Situ Treatment Technology
Air Sparge and Soil Vapor Extraction (AS/SVE) Systems are often combined, allowing the Air Sparge system to inject pressurized air into the soil or groundwater while the SVE system applies negative pressure in the subsurface, above the water table. AS/SVE systems are an efficient method of removing vapor phase contaminants from soil and groundwater.
PRM has manufactured Air Sparging systems for the remediation of soil and groundwater for over 25 years. These systems can be used for petroleum and chlorinated contamination removal and are generally more effective in sandy-silty soils.

Soil Vapor Extraction (SVE)
PRM Soil Vapor Extraction Systems typically include a NEMA 4 control panel, blower or vacuum pump, motor, moisture separator, high level switch, header assembly, and an inlet filter in an integrated factory tested package.
When designing your system, it is important to consider the number of extraction wells, required flow rate, site elevation, friction losses from piping, headers, carbon systems, oxidizer, heat exchangers, or other equipment that can affect the blower performance.
Regenerative blowers are a good choice for low to moderate flow-vacuum-pressure requirements. They produce low noise levels and are an economical option. Positive displacement blowers are generally used in higher flow-vacuum-pressure, and are more economical due to lower horsepower requirements.
Soil Vapor Extraction Systems can be combined with other technologies such as liquid ring pumps, air sparge systems, and pump and treat systems to enhance performance.
Air Sparge
Air sparge systems typically consist of a NEMA IV Control panel, an air compressor, rotary vane or positive displacement blower to pressurize ambient air. A heat exchanger is used to reduce the temperature of the pressurized air stream prior to injection. The manifold system is used to distribute the pressurized air to the injection wells.
Positive displacement blowers are typically selected for moderate to high flow rates and low to moderate pressures. Rotary vane compressors are generally selected for lower flow rates and low to moderate pressures. Rotary screw compressors are a better choice for higher flow and pressures.
Air Sparging systems are often used in conjunction with SVE systems that create a negative pressure in the formation to enhance the removal of the contaminated air. Consult with the PRM design team for assistance in choosing the proper equipment for your site application.
