Flare Systems
Utility and enclosed flare designs from 50 to 10,000 SCFM. Custom designed and manufactured in-house with proprietary pilot burner technology for reliable methane destruction up to 99% efficiency.
Methane & CO₂ Control for Landfill Applications
PRM Flare Systems are used for controlling methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂), byproducts of landfill biodegradation. We specialize in designing and manufacturing flares for landfill applications up to 10,000 SCFM with destruction rates of up to 98% efficiency for utility flares and greater than 99% for enclosed designs.
Additional markets include wastewater and agricultural applications. Landfills that utilize gas for energy production require a contingency flare to destroy excess gas when co-generation equipment is offline.

Flare System Options
PRM manufactures both utility and enclosed flare designs, plus rental systems for pilot testing before permanent installation
Utility / Candlestick Flares
The candlestick flare combusts excess landfill or biogas (40–55% methane) by discharging through a pipe and windshield. Monitored by thermocouple or UV scanner, achieving efficiencies greater than 98%.
- 50–10,000 CFM capacity range
- Meets EPA 40CFR 60.18 destruction efficiency
- Designed per AP-42 standards
Best for: Municipal landfills, solid waste facilities
Enclosed Flares
Combusts gases inside a vertical, insulation-lined chamber for increased destruction efficiency (>99%). Allows sampling to confirm destruction for carbon credit optimization. Concealed flame is aesthetically appealing.
- Greater than 99% destruction efficiency
- Sampling ports confirm destruction rates
- Optional staged burners for NOx compliance
Best for: Carbon credit sites, aesthetically sensitive locations
Rental Flare Systems
PRM has flare skid systems available for short or long-term rental. A rental system allows a pilot test to establish the flow capacity of the landfill before committing to a permanent installation.
- Complete system: blower skid, knockout tank, controls
- Short or long-term lease terms available
- 100+ rental systems currently deployed nationwide
Proprietary Burner & Pilot Design
PRM manufactures a proprietary pilot and burner design to provide reliable flame stability during a variety of weather and gas conditions. Our pilot and burner assemblies are constructed of heavy-gauge stainless steel to improve system life. Sustained combustion is typical without a pilot, but the pilot is available to actuate as needed, ensuring uninterrupted gas destruction.
Compliance Standards
- NFPA 86 combustion system compliance
- EPA 40CFR 60.18 destruction efficiency
- AP-42 standards compliance
- Class 1 Div 2 hazardous location wiring
System Integration
- Siemens SIMATIC PLC control systems
- SCADA with remote monitoring and telemetry
- Gas extraction blower skid integration
- Contingency flare for gas-to-energy systems
